To start InfoPath, go to Start -> All Programs -> Microsoft Office and select Microsoft InfoPath Designer 2010. You can see there are some inbuilt form templates available as follows.

The details about Popular Form Templates, Advanced Form Templates will be described later. Now we are going to create a Blank Form template. Double click on Blank Form Template, you will get the blank form.

Here I’m going to create a form to fill information about Projects in an organization. InfoPath Designer also similar to other office packages. Adding tables and other controls are same. Insert a table with 2 columns and 6 rows. Design the table with text and controls as follows.

The controls can be inserted by select the relevant table cell and select the control from the Controls group. Right click on the controls and set the properties.

For Project Number and Project Name add Text Boxes, for Project Manager and Project Sponsor add Person / Group Picker, for Date add Date Picker control.

Add the title as Project Details.

Click on the Preview button, you will get the screen like this.

Now you can able to fill out the form, creating data connection and submit the document is described in next part.
